so i had a little movie party on saturday and my dad kicked us out of the living room into this tiny little room that i like to call the “whatever room”. there were like 20 of us in a 5 by 5 area…it was still fun tho…we were gonna play rock band but A. we couldn’t get it hooked up and B. there was no room haha…so we watched/talked over tommy boy instead it was real fun and after that we went to go see someone and mira make a porno. it was sick but funny. all in all it was a good night. the end.

zack and miri make a porno is histerical, alex and i went home and did the dutch rutter to each other(=

So, for those of you who are meticulous nerds like me, you may be wondering that the Big 12 Conference uses as a tie-breaker in football. The reason I say that is there is a good chance that will be necessary this season. Texas beat Oklahoma by a score of 45-35 a couple weeks ago, meaning that the Horns will have to lose twice and OU win out for the Sooners to win the B12 South. If two teams finish with the same conference record, the winner of the head-to-head matchup wins the division. In other words, even if Texas loses one game and drops below OU in the standings, UT still wins the division over Oklahoma.

However… In my never ending world of ‘ifs’ and theoreticals, I’m tossing around this idea:

IF Oklahoma State goes to Austin and beats Texas this week, then OU beats OSU on the last day of the regular season (and all three teams win all other games), who wins the Big 12 South? All three would finish 7-1 in conference play and 11-1 overall. So, I looked it up and found this…

Divisional Tiebreakers: The following procedure will determine the representative from each division in the event of a tie:

If two teams are tied, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative

If three or more teams are tied, steps 1 through 7 will be followed until a determination is made. If only two teams remain tied after any step, the winner of the game between the two tied teams shall be the representative.
The records of the three teams will be compared against each other

The records of the three teams will be compared within their division

The records of the three teams will be compared against the next highest placed teams in their division in order of fi nish (4, 5 and 6)

The records of the three teams will be compared against all common conference opponents;

The highest ranked team in the fi rst Bowl Championship Series Poll following the completion of Big 12 regular season conference play shall be the representative

The team with the best overall winning percentage [excluding exempted games] shall be the representative

The representative will be chosen by draw.

It’s kind of confusing. Observe:

#1 - The three teams would all be 1-1 against each other

#2 - The three teams would all be 4-1 against the South Division

#3 - I don’t totally understand the wording, but it sounds an awful lot like #2.

#4 - Their records again would be the same against all common opponents

#5 - This would likely settle it, barring the most unbelieve BCS screw up of all time. Whoever is highest on the BCS poll that comes out the Sunday before the conference championship game would be declared the winner. If it does indeed come down to this, I would say OSU will have no shot seeing as how they will have lost to Oklahoma the day before the rankings come out, therefore it’ll be likely they’d out rank OU. OU has the best shot to win via this tie breaker since they will be on a 6-game win streak, but it would likely come down to how bad OSU would beat Texas. If the Cowboys beat the Horns in a really close game, Texas could drop down a couple spots in the polls but likely still rank ahead of OU. If OSU blows them out, they’ll drop below OU and have to play catchup.

There you have it… welcome to my incredibly overanalyzed life!
